June 7 – 13

June 7 – 13

“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,” 2 Cor. 3:5

Sunday, 7th: Our local jail is open again for the ministry of Chaplains David Beam and Bill Stickles. On Wednesday, June 2nd at 10:12 PM, David’s email requested studies for two new student sign-ups: “1. Inmate Lonnie G… BK#___; 2. His girlfriend Jamie R…, 174 E. ___ Las Cruces.”  After notifying Chaplain Beam that their studies would be mailed on June 3rd, David replied: “Thanks so much. When talking to Lonnie at jail, he was confused on which religion was the correct one because they all say that theirs is the right one. So, after having him read several Scriptures himself out loud, and having prayer together, he said he would love to do the Bible studies and wanted his girlfriend to do them too because she is also confused.”

Praise God – “Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.” (2 Cor. 3:4)! Pray Lonnie and Jamie study their lessons with their Bibles. Pray they make godly friendships and keep in touch.

Monday, 8th: Inmate Angel S… (age 30) sent this note in with his Bible study worksheets: Pray for a revival from the jail house to the White House and also in the Church. Pray for Governors, administrators and counselors to gather together with surpassing ability to do their job with a commendable attitude. Pray for my new appeal attorney. Thank you.”

Praise God – “In Him and through faith in Him we may enter God’s presence with boldness and confidence.” (Eph. 3:12)! Pray Angel starts each day on his knees in submission to the Lord and eager to serve Him.

Tuesday, 9th: “Inmate Manuel R… wrote: “I want to study your free Bible courses. I praise God that He blessed us with groups such as yours. I would like prayer for myself and my whole family.”

Praise God – “Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” (Heb. 10:35)! Pray Manuel studies his lessons diligently with the Bible. Pray he memorizes key verses & shares Christ.

Wednesday, 10th: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED? HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE LORD JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR? and WHEN?  New student inmate Dennis G… (age 41) wrote: “That I can be saved. Yes. May 18, 2020” (His first studies were mailed out on April 7, 2020.)

Praise God – “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Rom. 5:6)! Pray Dennis studies God’s word with heartfelt hunger and thirst to personally know Him and His love.

Thursday, 11th: Aaron G… wrote: “I’m 21 and incarcerated. My celly Robert V… has been doing your studies and I became curious. Can I start Bible studies? Keep my celly and me in prayer.”

Praise God – “And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:45)! Pray Aaron and Robert study God’s word, obey His voice and fearlessly reflect Jesus’ ‘light’ to others.

Friday, 12th: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED? HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE LORD JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR? and WHEN?  New student inmate Manuel R… (age 47) wrote: “About salvation and how to be saved. I accepted Christ in my heart on May 23, 2020.” (studies sent on 5/18/20.)

Praise God – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8)! Pray Manuel restudies lessons 1 and 2, as he waits to receive lessons 3 through 6.

Saturday, 13th: On May 12th, Gloria P… (age 57) emailed: “I want understanding about Jesus.” June 2nd, we had her first study worksheets. Gloria wrote: “I learned that Jesus is the Son of God, He died on the cross for my sins and He did things only God could do. I received the Lord Jesus as my Savior in the 1980’s. Along the way I went back into sin. I have never forgotten about Jesus, but I know I wasn’t doing the right things in life. I am asking for prayer. I really don’t know the Bible. I thank God for you who are sending me the lessons. I know it will help me to learn a lot about Jesus Christ.”

Praise God – “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psa. 91:1)! Pray Gloria makes repentance & submission to God a daily practice as she seeks to learn more.
