January 8 – 14
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”John 3:3
Sunday, 8th: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED IN THIS STUDY? HAVE YOU RECEIVED CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR? IF SO, WHEN? Inmate Christian W… (age 21) wrote: “Jesus is the only door into Heaven. Yes, 12/11/22.” (His first study was mailed to him on 11/26/22.) Praise God – “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!” (2 Cor. 5:17)! Pray Christian memorizes key verses from each lesson and shares his faith.
Monday, 9th: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS LESSON? Jeffrey B… shared: “Obedience is better than sacrifice. God wants us to obey Him, to depart from evil and trust Him. There are consequences behind sinning willfully.” Praise God – “If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains,” (Heb. 10:26)! Pray Jeffrey starts a home Bible study with family and friends.
Tuesday, 10th: WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO LEARN FROM GOD THROUGH THE STUDY OF HIS WORD? On December 16, at 2:33 PM, new student hopeful Ashten S… e-mailed: “I recently had a health scare and barely made it out of the hospital with my life due to my drug use. I am now three months completely clean and I am dedicating the time I have left on this earth to the Lord God Almighty! I would truly appreciate anything y’all could send me and my daughter Londyn P…, age 10. I would love to do Bible studies with her and teach her all I can about God’s love and mercy!” (Ashten has visitation rights with Londyn on weekends.) Praise God – “One generation will commend Your works to the next, and will proclaim Your mighty acts” (Psa. 145:4)! Pray Ashten and Londyn have quality mother and daughter time as they grow in their faith.
Wednesday, 11th: On January 4th the office phone rings and Joan Evans answers: “Hello, this is Bible Studies By Mail. How can we help you?” The caller was student Christina M… She was wondering if we’d gotten her study answer sheets. Joan checked our student database and saw her answer sheets had just been processed and her next studies were in the outgoing mail. Upon hearing that and realizing she had a listening ear on the phone, Christina shared her heart. Joan wrote down prayer items. We then found her envelope and placed additional reading and study materials in it. (Christina’s Prayer Items: she has much anxiety; her grandchildren are into prostitution and drug abuse; her mother is dying; she is depressed and starting to cut herself again.) Praise God – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;” (Prov. 3:5)! Pray Christina fills her thought life with Christ’s teaching, finds a Bible-teaching church and a mentor.
Thursday, 12th: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS LESSON? Inmate Wesley B… wrote: “God wants His children to be happy in heart and free to approach Him, knowing that all their sins have been forgiven.” Praise God – “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:21)! Pray Wesley encourages fellow inmates to study the Bible.
Friday, 13th: “Please remember me and my family. I desperately need the prayers. Satan is toying with me every way possible. I was doing great and full of joy, but the devil snuck in and got me upset. So, please pray for me! Thanks, Priscilla P…” (She started studying in September 2022, a month after her dad’s death.) Praise God – “The field is the world, and the good seed represents the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,” (Matt. 13:38)! Pray Priscilla thoroughly studies the additional literature just sent.
Saturday, 14th: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS LESSON? Inmate Robert B… wrote: “Spiritual warfare is increasingly rampant – especially here in jail. The enemy stops at nothing to kill, steal and destroy (Jn.10:10). We know the outcome though; we are more than conquerors.” Praise God – “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Rom. 8:37)! Pray Robert lives out and vocally shares God’s truth among his cellmates and guardsmen.
